Did you know that Bomet County hosts the south-western reserve of the Mau Forest? Mau Forest, which has been a protected area since the 1930s, was officially gazetted in 1954 as a Forest Reserve and is Kenya’s largest indigenous montane forest. Mau is also the source of many of Kenya’s rivers, including the Southern Ewaso Ng’iro and the Njoro River. Some of its rivers such as the Sondu River and the Mara River feed into Lake Victoria.
